There are two taxi companies in Nozawa Onsen. We will include more information about these two companies and add more taxi options below. Before going into detail, it is worth mentioning 3 important points:
1. The vast majority of guests visiting Nozawa Onsen take the convenient Nozawa Onsen Liner bus, which departs regularly to/from Iiyama station (it is timed to meet the Shinkansen). For more information on the Nozawa Onsen Liner bus, please see our getting to Nozawa Onsen page.
What if the Nozawa Onsen Liner bus is full? This is rare but is possible. They run up to 3 full-size coaches for each departure time, however we recommended arriving well in advance to board the bus to ensure your place.
2. If arriving to Iiyama station late at night, such as on the last Shinkansen from Tokyo, there is no bus transfer to Nozawa Onsen. It is not recommended to depend on a taxi at this time. Most taxi companies do not operate late at night. If you really want to arrive to Nozawa Onsen late at night, you could book the Nagano Snow Shuttle bus from Tokyo. Otherwise we recommend staying in another location such as Nagano city and travel to Nozawa Onsen the following morning when there is reliable public transportation.
3. Local taxi companies are very busy from December-March during winter but are quiet the rest of the year. For this reason, taxi companies do not have a large fleet and are often booked out. It is better to take the Nozawa Onsen Liner bus, however if a guest would still like to book a taxi, please see the information below:
