Nozawa Onsen Ski and snowboard rental prices 2026/2027

Below is a breakdown of ski rental rates from four leading stores in Nozawa Onsen, manually calculated and verified by our team. Note: Daily prices usually decrease the longer you rent. We compared these rental shops because they are well-established and trusted by visitors over many years. 

All prices are 2026/27 season, per day, based on a 3-day rental. We recommend confirming current pricing and availability directly with each shop before your trip. You usually do not need to book in advance, however you can if you like.

- Accessories: Helmet is included with clothing, however pricing and information is not available on their website for individual items such as goggles and gloves. They do have these items for sale.

Ski/snowboard rental comparison, 2026/2027 (3-day rate, per day)

Here at Nozawa Peaks we recommend Nozawa Sports Thanx and Olive rental. Not only are they the two closest options to Nozawa Peaks, our guests have had great experiences over the years. Both have rental stores located in the village AND also on the ski resort. This is important because if a guest needs assistance with their rentals during the day, they can receive help at the ski resort without having to return to the village. 

Olive rental has a rental store next to the Nozawa Onsen ski school, so if you have first time skiers in your group, this is a very convenient option. You can leave your rental gear at the store each day so you do not need to carry ski gear to the ski school each day. It may be worth paying extra for this convenience. Nozawa Sports Thanx provide very competitive pricing, they also have great gear and a variety of brands.

Choosing where to rent ski or snowboard gear in Nozawa Onsen really comes down to what matters most to you — value, convenience (location), or premium options.

You cannot really go wrong with any of the options listed here.

If you bring your own boots you save around 1,000 yen per day on the above prices.

Not all rental stores have gloves and goggles to rent, however they do usually sell them. Low quality gloves can get cold and wet easily, they also fall apart. Low quality goggles tend to fog up. Skiing is not fun if you cannot see well or cannot feel your hands. We recommend buying your own, good quality gloves and goggles. Try purchasing goggles which have 2 lenses, one lens for sunny days and one lens for cloudy days. It really helps a lot to see the bumps. Goretex gloves are a good option as they are very waterproof so stay dry and warm.
